not much background but great ambition for the future:

edited a series of short articles for an Emory University-based online publication the last year and find ourselves wondering why we are subjecting ourselves to their editing demands and their refusal to create a way for readers to comment. Please check out the work here:

We have in mind building a site of our own where scholars would draw on their expertise as well as work across traditional disciplinary boundaries to write short, analytic and non-academic pieces addressing contemporary issues related to the US South. We are interested in publishing pieces that examine art exhibits, museums, films, photographs, and music and other artifacts as ways of provoking discussion and inducing commentary about the issues facing the region today. We are also planning pieces that focus on particular landscapes in the region and that will include mapping functions.

We are launching in Feb: Jeremy Boggs is working with us on this.
